2019 Chevrolet Malibu

<p>There are six different trims available for buyers to choose from when looking at the 2019 Malibu: the base-level L; the mid-level LS, RS, and LT trims; a Hybrid option; and the top-of-the-line Premier trim. It's easy to spot the all-new 2019 Malibu, as a brand-new larger grille beckons to all prospective buyers. Gone are the days when the two-piece grille was split by a body-colored bar. The new grille features a shiny chrome bar, and thanks to this redesign, the headlights now form part of the upper grille.</p><p>The RS is the new kid on the block and delivers its own unique style to this lineup. At the front of the car, Chevy's signature bowtie emblem and black grille let you know you are in for a new experience. Continuing toward the back, the RS's rear spoiler, 18-inch machined wheels, and dual-exhaust outlet are just a few of the exterior features that will pique your interest.</p><p>The Premier upgrades the Malibu's standard headlights to high-performance LED headlights. This brighter LED technology is also built into the taillights of both the LT and Premier trims and is an available upgrade for the Hybrid. Additional exterior changes include updated rear and front fascias, three new paint choices, and three new wheels; however, the added color and wheel choices come with the discontinuation of four previous colors and three former wheels.</p>

The powerful Malibu asks owners to choose between three engines. The L, LS, RS, and LT trims come equipped with a 1.5-liter turbo engine that produces 163 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. The Premier increases the engine to a 2.0-liter turbo-four pumping out 250 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Finally, Hybrid owners get a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that creates 122 horsepower and a respectable 129 pound-feet of torque.

The 1.5-liter engine pairs with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), replacing the former six-speed automatic transmission, and gets 27 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. The 2.0-liter engine comes with a nine-speed automatic transmission that is capable of 22 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the open road. The Hybrid features a dual-electric-motor setup that requires no transmission and expands the city range to 49 mpg and the highway range to 43 mpg.

Comfort rules the interior of the 2019 Malibu across all trim levels. Five people can comfortably set out on an adventure together. A new standard 8-inch touch-screen infotainment system, wireless connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, steering-wheel-mounted audio controls, and voice-activation are just some of the cutting-edge technologies you can expect to see.

The 2019 Chevrolet Malibu comes equipped with a ton of safety features, such as a cabin-full of air bags, a rear backup camera, traction control, brake assist, electronic stability control, perimeter/approach lighting, and much more. The rearview camera is upgraded to a high-definition system in the Hybrid and Premier trims. And if something should happen, the Malibu includes OnStar technology that allows you to get assistance in a hurry.
