2021 Chevrolet Express Cargo Van 2500
The Chevrolet Express Cargo 2500, which comes in two wheelbase configurations, made its debut in the 1996 model year. But over the years, it has become one of Chevrolet's well-proven work vehicles. The no-frills full-size van is the ideal practical vehicle for your business needs in 2021 and beyond. It has three strong engine options, including one diesel engine, and impressive payload and towing capacities.
Keep reading to learn why the 2021 Chevrolet Express Cargo 2500 is an excellent addition to any fleet.
Time Levels (Exterior)
The Express Cargo 2500 van comes in standard and long-wheelbase body styles. The standard wheelbase measures 135 inches, and the extended wheelbase stretches to 155 inches. The van rides on 16-inch steel wheels and comes standard with halogen headlights. It also includes large rear swing-out doors and hinged cargo doors, as well as an optional sliding cargo door, for easy loading and unloading of larger items.
You can also style the van to your taste by choosing any of these exterior color options: Black, Red Hot, Summit White, Tangier Orange, and Woodland Green.
Engine (Power)
For the 2021 model year, Chevrolet replaced the optional 6.0-liter V-8 engine with a 6.6-liter V-8 engine that produces 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. This replacement is the same engine in the Silverado HD pickup trucks. There's also a 4.3-liter V-6 engine that supplies 276 horsepower and 298 pound-feet of torque. The most fuel-efficient engine in the powertrain lineup is a 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that delivers 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque.
Each of these three engine options generates enough power to tow a trailer or haul an interior full of equipment.
Performance
The 6.6-liter V-8 engine is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. In contrast, the 4.3-liter V-6 and the 2.8-liter diesel engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. All powertrains are only available in a rear-wheel-drive layout.
In addition, both wheelbase options have excellent towing and payload capabilities when properly equipped. However, the regular wheelbase has a higher maximum payload capacity of 3,280 pounds and a maximum towing capacity of 7,400 pounds.
Interior
The Chevrolet Express Cargo 2500 has built a reputation as a reliable commercial work vehicle. However, it's not your typical van as it adds some interior amenities. You'll enjoy vinyl upholstery, air conditioning, and several technology features. The van also has an AM/FM stereo with MP3 compatibility, along with two front-door speakers. Opt for the Communications package to add Bluetooth connectivity, satellite radio, and a CD player. Other available upgrades include a 6.5-inch color touch-screen display and navigation system.
Safety Features
A rearview and backup camera come standard for viewing objects behind the Express Cargo 2500, especially since the van has panels instead of windows in the cargo area. The van also has a hill start assist and a tire pressure monitoring system for added safety. Available safety upgrades include blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, rear park assist, and forward-collision warning. There's also an optional Driver Convenience Package, which adds features like cruise control.
