2021 Chevrolet Express Passenger Van
The 2021 Chevrolet Express Passenger Van comes in two versions, with the 3500 being the heavy-duty option. This accommodating heavy-duty vehicle comes in standard and long-wheelbase body styles. By Chevy's design, the Express Passenger 3500 Van's exterior has remained the same since the van's inception in 1996. However, during this timeline, the inside has seen incredible upgrades and redesigns. Currently, it provides plenty of interior space to haul up to 15 passengers in comfort and style.
This guide reviews the highlights of the 2021 Chevrolet Express Passenger 3500 Van.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
There are two trim levels available with the 2021 Express Passenger Van: the LT and LS. The standard-wheelbase version reaches 139 inches, while the long-wheelbase style stretches 159 inches. Both trims come standard with 16-inch wheels. The van also comes in four exterior color options including Summer White and Red Hot.
Engine (Power)
The 2020 models offer an optional 6.0-liter V-8. But Chevrolet replaced this for the 2021 model year with the same 6.6-liter engine on the Silverado 2500 and 3500 HD. This new engine option produces 401 horsepower and 464 pound-feet of torque. Still, the vehicle's standard engine is a 4.3-liter V-6 that produces 276 horsepower. The LT and LS trim levels also use an available 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel engine that supplies 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque.
The 4.3-liter and the 2.8-liter diesel engines are mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the 6.6-liter powertrain comes with a six-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
The base trim offers a maximum towing capacity of 6,700 pounds and a maximum payload capacity of 3,540 pounds. Both variants of the van also come standard with rear-wheel drive.
Interior
The 2021 Express Passenger 3500 seats up to 12 people with the standard body style and 15 people with the long-wheelbase option. All seats are covered in cloth upholstery. The LS trim features a six-way power-adjustable driver's and passenger's seat. What's more, back-seat occupants will enjoy rear auxiliary access for heating and cooling. Available upgrades include a leather-wrapped steering wheel, carpeting throughout the entire van, and remote keyless entry.
Each LT comes standard with an AM/FM stereo and Wi-Fi. There's an optional Communications package for the Express Passenger 3500, which adds Bluetooth connectivity, a CD player, and satellite radio. This add-on also includes a 6.5-inch touch-screen display and navigation system.
You can easily get in and out of the van with the standard swing-out passenger door or the optional sliding passenger-side door.
Safety Features
Driving such a large van presents several challenges, especially when you're working your way through traffic and want to change lanes. Thankfully, there are several key safety features available with the 2021 Express Passenger 3500 to keep you safe on the road. Both trims have a rearview camera and tire pressure monitoring system, so you can avoid undue wear and tear on your tires. They also come with dual front air bags and side-curtain air bags for the first three rows.
Optional safety features include lane-departure warning, rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and forward-collision warning.
