2022 Chevrolet Colorado
The Chevrolet Colorado is a midsize pickup truck that offers much of the functionality of a full-size along with the superior maneuverability associated with its class. Take a look at the specs and features of the 2022 Colorado to see whether it's the right truck for you.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 Chevrolet Colorado is available in four trims — WT, LT, Z71, and ZR2 — and three cab configurations — short-box crew cab, long-box crew cab, and long-box extended cab. The exterior dimensions of the vehicle largely depend on the configuration you choose. The short-box crew cab and long-box extended cab measure 212.7 inches long, while the long-box crew cab is 224.9 inches. All are 74.3 inches wide.
As for height, the drivetrain option introduces additional variation. The short-box crew cab is the tallest overall, at 70.7 inches and 70.6 inches for the two- and four-wheel drives, respectively. The long-bed crew cab comes in at 70.6/70.6 inches tall and the long-bed extended cab at 70.4/70.3 inches tall.
Engine (Power)
Chevrolet offers multiple powertrain options for the 2022 Colorado. The base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that generates 200 horsepower and 191 pound-feet of torque. There's also a 3.6-liter V-6 for the LT and standard on the upper trims, which produces 308 horsepower and 275 pound-feet of torque. Starting at the LT trim, you can also choose a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbo-diesel that gets you 181 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
Depending on your configuration, a V-6 Colorado can get you from 0 to 60 in a little over 6 seconds. The other powertrain options offer less in terms of acceleration, but all are capable of strong to excellent towing capacities, provided you've equipped your vehicle with the trailing equipment package. A base-level Colorado can manage to tow a maximum of 3,500 pounds, while the V-6 and the diesel can pull 7,000 and 7,700 pounds, respectively.
For most trim levels, your miles per gallon vary depending on your engine and drivetrain configuration. The four-cylinder 19 mpg in the city for both two- and four-wheel drive. For highway driving, it's 25 mpg for two-wheel drive and 24 mpg for four-wheel drive. The V-6 gets the same efficiency on the highway but 18 mpg in the city. The two-wheel-drive diesel gets 20 and 30 mpg in city and highway driving, respectively, while four-wheel drive gets 19 and 28 mpg.
Interior
The cabin of the 2022 Chevrolet Colorado is spacious, offering 45 inches of front legroom across all three cab configurations. Rear legroom for the long-bed extended cab is tighter at 28.6 inches, compared to the 35.8 inches of the other configurations. The Colorado's cargo space should more than satisfy most people's needs, with the short bed measuring 41 cubic feet and the long bed offering 50 cubic feet.
Tech features include an Infotainment 3 system with a touchscreen. The base WT trim comes standard with a 7-inch screen, while the other trims offer an 8-inch screen. All models are compatible with Bluetooth, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay.
Safety Features
The 2022 Chevrolet Colorado takes a minimalist approach when it comes to safety features, but it does offer some helpful options. These include OnStar and Chevrolet Connected Services, rear park assist, a high-definition rear-vision camera, lane-departure warnings, and a forward-collision alerts system.
