2022 Chevrolet Traverse

Chevrolet offers the 2022 Traverse in six trim levels: LS, LT Cloth, LT Leather, RS, Premier, and High Country. The exterior dimensions are consistent across all levels, with a length of 205.9 inches, a width of 78.6 inches, and a height of 70.7 inches. The lower three trims come standard with 18-inch wheels. For the higher three, the standard wheels are 20 inches.

Chevy has also updated the Traverse body. It now sports a headlamp configuration and grille, plus new designs for the tail lamp, roof rails, and wheels. The three higher-level trims come standard with heated power-folding side mirrors, while the LS and LT have the option for a Midnight/Sport package, which features a black grille, wheels, roof rails, and nameplate.

For a midsize SUV, the 2022 Traverse provides impressive power. The V-6 engine gets you from 0 to 60 mph in about 6.5 seconds. Equipped with the available trailering package, the vehicle can pull up to 5,000 pounds. As for the handling, you have the drive mode selector, which lets you adapt the vehicle to various road conditions with a simple twist of a dial.

The Traverse's fuel economy varies to some extent depending on your drivetrain option. With front-wheel drive, you get an EPA-estimated 18 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. All-wheel drive gets a slightly reduced 17 and 25 mpg, respectively.

The interior of the 2022 Traverse is tremendous. With a passenger volume of 157.1 cubic feet, it easily fits up to eight people. The front row has maximum legroom of 44.5 inches, while the second row gets an ample 38.4 inches. Even the third row is large enough to accommodate adult passengers, with 33.5 inches of legroom. The cargo space is likewise generous. The standard 23 cubic feet expands to 57.8 and 98.2 cubic feet when you fold down the third and second rows, respectively.

The color touchscreen in the center stack measures 7 to 8 inches depending on your trim level, with an infotainment system compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Multiple USB ports are available throughout the cabin.

Multiple safety features come standard in the 2022 Chevrolet Traverse. All trim levels have the Chevy Safety Assist suite, which provides automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warnings, a following-distance indicator, forward-collision alerts, and automatic high beams. Buckle to drive and a tire pressure monitoring system are also standard.

Other features become standard or available once you hit certain trim levels. For example, at the LS level, you begin to get content such as a rear-vision camera, while the three higher-level trims provide advanced safety tech such as surround vision, a rear camera mirror, adaptive cruise control, and enhanced automatic emergency braking.
