You can choose from a range of attractive paint options with the Trax, such as Midnight Blue Metallic, Crimson Metallic, Stone Gray Metallic, and Iridescent Pearl Tricoat. There are also two trims to choose from: the LS and LT. With the LS, you receive standard features such as 16-inch aluminum wheels, power-adjustable mirrors, halogen reflector headlights, and solar-absorbing glass. The LT trim adds upgraded equipment, which include heated side mirrors, LED daytime running lights, roof rails, deep-tinted glass, halogen projector-beam headlights, and LED taillights.

To stand out from the rest, opt for one of the special-edition models, which include the all-black Midnight Edition and the Sport Edition, of which the latter is available in a variety of paint colors. Both special-edition models are equipped with 18-inch gloss Black aluminum wheels, all-season Blackwall tires, front and rear Black skid plates, and front and rear Black bowties.

The Trax is powered by an upgraded turbocharged 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine that provides a more powerful output of 155 horsepower and 177 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels. You can, however, opt for an available all-wheel drive on both trims.

Due to its compact size, slightly lifted ride height, and light and easily controllable steering, the Trax makes for easy maneuvering in and out of tight and congested urban spaces. What's more, this SUV's brakes are among the best in this class. For a more controlled and stable ride, equip your Trax with the available all-wheel-drive system.

For its size, the Trax offers a spacious interior. Respectably sized seating for up to five passengers is provided, and the rear cargo area offers 18.7 cubic feet of space. When you want to haul larger items, you can fold the rear seats flat, which opens up a maximum cargo area of 48.4 cubic feet. The standard 7-inch infotainment is intuitive and well-equipped with features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, Wi-Fi hot-spot capability, six speakers, SiriusXM, and USB ports.

Other standard features include a cloth seat trim, a rear window defogger, remote keyless entry, and ingle-zone manual climate control. For upgraded features such as cruise control, an upgraded cloth seat trim, a cargo shelf, front passenger under-seat storage, and remote start, opt for the LT trim. If you'd like a leatherette seat trim and heated front seats, go for the Premium Seat package.

Standard safety features with the Trax include a rear-vision camera, StabiliTrak electronic stability control, and a tire-pressure monitoring system. You need to invest in the Driver Confidence package if you wish to equip your Trax with the following driver-assist systems: side blind-zone alert, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear park assist.
