Your new Chevy comes with a warranty that provides comprehensive protection against any unforeseen issues in its manufacture. If any issue covered by warranty is identified, it will be rectified by Chevy-trained technicians using Chevy-approved replacement parts. We want to tell you more about the protection you receive under your Chevy warranty.
From Your Chevrolet Dealer: Understanding Your Chevy Warranty
New Vehicle Limited Warranty
This warranty covers almost every component in your Chevy except those covered by the other warranties below or those specifically excluded. If any defect is discovered with the labor or materials used in manufacturing your Chevy, the defect will be fixed by any Chevy dealer at no charge. Certain situations, like damage caused by the use of unauthorized parts or general wear and tear, are not covered by this warranty.
All warranty exclusions are listed in your warranty handbook. Coverage applies for the first three years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. If you sell your Chevy during the warranty period, the unexpired portion of the warranty is transferred to the new buyer. The only exceptions to this are if you own a Corvette Z06 or an E-Ray, as their warranty will only transfer if you’ve owned your Chevy for more than six months.
Powertrain Limited Warranty
The powertrain consists of your engine, transmission, and drivetrain. If you have a transaxle and transfer case, they are also covered by this warranty. All systems and components in these systems, except those specifically excluded, are protected for five years or 60,000 miles. Certain engines and systems have extended coverage. Excluded systems and components are detailed in your warranty handbook.
If your Chevy has a Silverado TurboMax engine, it’s covered for five years or 100,000 miles. The 3.0L and 6.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel engines also have extended coverage for five years or 100,000 miles.
Hybrid Vehicle Propulsion Battery Coverage
If you have a hybrid vehicle, its unique battery pack and associated components are covered for eight years or 100,000 miles. The hybrid battery slowly loses storage capacity like any other battery. This natural storage capacity reduction is not a fault and is not covered by warranty.
Sheet Metal Coverage
Rust and corrosion are mortal enemies of unprotected metal, and they can rapidly destroy it. All your Chevy’s sheet metal is protected against these dangers by specialized coatings applied to the metal during manufacture.
All sheet metal is protected against corrosion for three years or 36,000 miles. The metal is also protected against rust-through, which is rust that forms a hole through the metal from one side to the other. Rust-through protection applies for six years or 100,000 miles.
