For dinner, some of the best dishes include chicken piccata, linguini tritone, and the Palermo dish, available with eggplant, chicken, or veal. At Maison Madeleine Bed & Breakfast, you can take some time away from it all on the shores of gorgeous Lake Martin. This place is known for its hospitality and comfort, making it an ideal spot for a weekend with your significant other. It was built in the 1840s, and one of the largest wading bird rookeries in North America rests on the property for you to enjoy.

Maison Madeleine is also just around the corner from Breaux Bridge, one of the most fascinating towns in the United States. Evangeline State Park is about half an hour away from Lafayette, and many of its structures date back to the earliest settlements in the area. You can go on a guided tour or explore on your own, with plenty of entertainment found in the historic homes, a blacksmith’s shop, and a visitors’ center. You can get a glimpse into how Acadians lived, worked, and cooperated with one another in the area, and the picturesque landscape only adds to the enjoyment.
