Named “the happiest city in America,” it’s no surprise that Lafayette, LA knows how to do the happiest season of the year so well. With a calendar packed with exciting spring activities, it’s a great place to shake off those winter blues and get out and about in the community. Here’s our list of some of the best things to try.

4 Fun Spring Activities You Can Drive to From Lafayette, LA

1. Explore the Azalea Trail

One of the brightest and most cheerful signs of spring, these beautiful blossoms line 20 miles of Lafayette’s streets. If you want to take some time to appreciate them properly, you could follow the self-guided Azalea Trail that begins at the Visitor Center at 1400 Evangeline Throughway. Take in the eye-catching color and appreciate the riotous shades of pink at can’t-miss spots such as the Boulevard of Floral Splendor and Good Hope Hall.

2. Celebrate Crawfish at the Breaux Bridge Festival

Held in the first weekend of May, this festival will give you the chance to appreciate crawfish in all its forms. Whether you prefer yours boiled or bisqué, you’ll find your favorite dish in the huge range of crawfish eats available, as well as a crawfish-eating contest, crawfish race, and crawfish étoufée cook-off. There’s also a parade, live music from Cajun and Creole bands, carnival rides, and arts and crafts to enjoy.

Held at Parc Hardy at 1290 Rees St, Breaux Bridge, this is one celebration that you can’t possibly miss.

3. Decorate Cookies With Sweet Sisters Sugar Fix

Spring is always a good time to learn something new, and there’s no better way to celebrate the season than by expressing it through the medium of a cookie. Sweet Sisters Sugar Fix runs cookie decorating classes on a variety of themes, such as the bee-focused “Oh Honey – I’m Comb” class at 1.30pm on April 23. Book online to attend the classes at 1904 West Pinhook Road, and take home some new skills and tasty treats.

4. Dance at the Spring Swing Music Festival

If springtime makes you want to kick up your heels, you can’t miss the Spring Swing Music Festival. Held at Parc International at 200 Garfield Street at 2pm on May 13, this family-friendly event is your chance to dust off your dancing shoes. You can bring your own seating, tents, and umbrellas, so pack the capacious trunk of your Chevy Tahoe and head downtown for food, drinks, fun, live music, and of course the chance to dance.

Springtime in Lafayette is just too exhilarating to miss, so be sure to make the most of what the community has to offer. And while you’re exploring all the possibilities, stop by and see us at Service Chevrolet Cadillac to find out about the latest exciting car-buying options.
