Keeping drivers and their passengers safe is Chevy’s number one priority, which is why they include the latest car safety features in every vehicle they design. Here are some of the features that will be protecting you when you get your next vehicle at your Chevy dealer.

1. High-Definition Surround Vision

Along with the rear vision camera that comes standard in all new Chevy vehicles, this technology will help give you full awareness of your surroundings. By using a number of different camera views from around the vehicle, this feature is able to project an overhead image of your vehicle and the surrounding area.

2. Adaptive Cruise Control

Cruise control just got a whole lot smarter with the addition of this technology, which helps to regulate your speed for safe highway driving. Sensors detect other vehicle sharing the road with you, maintaining a pre-set gap between yourself and other drivers. You can adjust this gap to give yourself a comfortable level of time to react to sudden changes ahead of you.

3. Rear Cross Traffic Alert

Back out of tight parking spaces or driveways with ease thanks to the added reassurance that comes from this feature. If any traffic is detected coming across your path behind your vehicle from either direction, you’ll get an alert so that you always know when it’s safe to reverse out.

4. Intellibeam Auto High Beam Assist

While your high beams are helpful in low-visibility situations, the intense light they produce can create a dangerous situation if the glare blinds oncoming drivers. Chevy uses this feature to mitigate that danger by automatically adjusting your light settings depending on the traffic conditions around you.

5. Following Distance Indicator

Avoiding tailgating is essential out on the road as it helps to ensure you have time to react in a suddenly-changing scenario on the road. This feature helps to avoid any dangerous driving behavior by providing you with the gap time between yourself and the vehicle ahead of you, helping you determine if you’re following too closely.

6. Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning

Your Chevy is intelligent enough to detect when you’ve inadvertently drifted out of your lane. By sensing traffic patterns around you, this feature can provide you with an alert when you veer out of your intended lane, with corrective steering giving you a nudge in the correct direction if needed.

7. Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking

When all of the other safety features built into your Chevy aren’t enough to avert a dangerous situation, this feature steps in as a last line of defense. You’ll first receive visual and audio alerts that bring your attention to an impending collision. If that’s not enough, emergency brakes kick in to decrease your velocity so less force is felt in the event of an accident.
