Alligator near Layfayette, LAEven as the days begin to grow shorter and we move into fall, there’s still plenty of outdoor fun to be had. Enjoy some time in one of the best parks near Lafayette, Louisiana. These parks will give you a nostalgic feeling and you’ll probably remember eating a melting Moon Pie while enjoying a cold cola and watching the sky change colors in the distance.

Evangeline State Park

This gem of a park is often overlooked. It is a historical site and has been lovingly preserved. This is a great place to visit when you want to have a quiet afternoon with the family and learn some interesting historical details too. The land is rustic and beautiful with an authentic farmhouse, as well as a well-preserved 18th-century Acadian house. This Creole plantation and the historical museum will make you take a trip back in time and also share a remarkable experience with your family. 

Sky Zone Trampoline Park

If you need to expend some energy and really make certain your children are worn out for a nap on the way home, you must stop at Sky Zone. This is the largest chain of indoor trampoline parks and there’s always plenty to do. For the grown-ups, there’s a spacious, comfortable seating area to watch your children jump themselves into happy exhaustion.

This trampoline park offers more than just a play place though. There’s also a rock-climbing wall, glow parties, and dodge ball tournaments. There’s a food court inside as well, so the kids can fill up and recharge after hours of play.

Lake Martin

For those more interested in a more tranquil getaway, Lake Martin makes for a relaxing day. The scenic treeline overlooking the lake is a photographer’s dream, and images that look like works of art can be captured easily. There are boat tours available for those wanting to venture out into the water, and for those who want to stay on dry land, there are a few walking trails and hiking paths to explore.

There’s even the option for guided tours so you can learn more about the landscape, along with the creatures native to the lake and surrounding marshes. There have even been a few lucky tourists who had the opportunity to see alligators in their natural environment.

Acadiana Park

This park has several amenities that are sure to keep your family entertained. With over 117 acres, this park boasts an impressive open play area, soccer fields, a miniature baseball field, a campground, a disc golf course, lighted tennis courts, and a children’s playground. If that’s not enough to keep you entertained, there’s also various hiking and biking trails for different ways of exploring the park. There is a picnic area and also a restroom facility on-site. Take advantage of this park that’s fun for all.

Whether you’re in the mood to learn history or jump until you’re exhausted, these parks will provide hours of entertainment. So if you want to relax and get back to nature, take a tour, but watch out for the gator.
