Fried Shrimp PlatterThe Gulf Coast is a fantastic place to enjoy a variety of freshly caught seafood. If you are looking for a new place to enjoy seafood, the city of Lafayette offers several delicious options for both lunch and dinner.

Blue Dog Cafe of Lafayette

The Blue Dog Cafe of Lafayette welcomes you for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch. This fun and relaxed location serves a mix of local favorites and seafood. There is a daily lunch special offered Monday through Friday. Seafood lovers who are looking for a taco can enjoy shrimp or fish tacos on Tuesday. If you would love soup for lunch, they offer shrimp and crab stew on Fridays.

If you are enjoying dinner with friends, family, or your significant other, check out the full menu, including appetizers such as cornmeal-crusted fried oysters or seafood wontons.  Some of the main dishes including their unique spin on a seafood po’boy or barbeque shrimp and grits. The blue crab linguini combines seafood with a classic Italian dish. Ask about the catch of the day, which you can have either grilled or blackened.

Another fun dish is the half and half. This platter includes crispy soft shell crab, fried shrimp, crawfish etouffee, and Lousiana popcorn rice. It comes with a creamy tomato and cucumber salad.  Save room for something off the dessert menu, including seasonal fruit cobbler, buttermilk pie, or flourless chocolate cake.

Mandez’s Seafood Bar and Grill

For a relaxed seafood meal, head over to Mandez’s Seafood Bar and Grill. They use a homemade batter that adds a unique flavor to many of the dishes. Some of the seafood highlights here include fried catfish, fried oysters, and fried shrimp. They also have a fried fish dish. All of the seafood platters come with coleslaw, fries, and hush puppies. You can pair your meal with one of their many daiquiri options or a beer of your choice. They also serve wine and a variety of spirits. Save room for a dessert of beignets or a slice of praline pecan pie.

Don’s Seafood

Don’s Seafood combines seafood with the spice of Cajun cooking. They are open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. The lunch menu features Cajun classics such as either fried or grilled catfish. The grilled version is gluten-free. They also have a seafood gumbo that includes stuffed shrimp, fried catfish, fried shrimp, fried oysters, and shrimp etouffee. If you are in the mood for a sandwich, try the shrimp po’boy or grilled shrimp tacos.

Dinner at Don’s features dishes such as the Fourchon — fresh Gulf fish topped with jumbo lump crab cream sauce and a side of sweet corn grins. Another delicious dinner option is Don’s Seafood Platter. This dish features all the highlights from the sea, including stuffed crab, stuffed shrimp, fried catfish, and fried oysters.

Ask your friends to join you for a mouthwatering meal after work. Surprise your significant other with an unforgettable date night meal. Enjoy the seafood and each other’s company as you relax and reconnect after a long day of work.
