As you shop for your next SUV, you have a lot of decisions to make, including which brand has the kinds of models you want and what sorts of features best meet your needs. If you’ve narrowed things down to the models you’ll find at your favorite Chevrolet dealer, you’ve already made a lot of progress, but you still have some important factors to consider. For starters, Chevy makes eight different SUVs right now (not including electrified models), which gives you a lot of options to choose from. That kind of freedom is terrific and helps ensure you get what you need, but it can also be a bit overwhelming.

If you’re interested in a small SUV, then you have quite a few options available from Chevy, including the subcompact Trax and the compact Equinox. However, between these two models in the Chevy lineup is one of our absolute favorite SUVs on the market—the Trailblazer. When you’re looking at options available to you that can fit into any lifestyle, the Trailblazer is hard to beat and a great model to focus on. So, let’s take a good look at the 2024 model and see if it has everything you’re looking for.

Gorgeous Design and Sporty Performance

The first thing you’ll probably notice about the Trailblazer is that it looks terrific, with a slick design that includes strong proportions and sweeping curves across the length of it. The ACTIV and RS trims stand out even more with their two-tone rooflines, creating a striking contrast and a bolder look than most people expect from such a small SUV. Some new exterior colors are available this year, such as Cacti Green and Copper Harbor Metallic, allowing you to express your creative flair with this stunning vehicle.

Looking inside, the Trailblazer has two rows of seating for up to five passengers, as you’d expect from a compact model like this. Despite its small size, you’ll still find nearly 40 inches of legroom available for your rear-seat passengers, plus you get more than 54 cu.ft. of total cargo space to take advantage of behind the front seats. This lets you load up with shopping bags, luggage, camping supplies, or anything else you need to take with you when you hit the road. With the available hands-free liftgate, it’s easy to get access to the rear cargo area while loading or unloading the Trailblazer with your hands full.

In terms of performance, two engines are offered for the 2024 model starting with a 1.2L turbo engine with 137 hp. If you want something with more power, then there’s an available 1.3L turbo engine that delivers 155 hp for a sporty ride that’s perfect for zipping along the highway or navigating city streets. Front-wheel drive is standard on the Trailblazer, but you can choose all-wheel drive if you prefer the enhanced traction and control it provides. No matter which you choose, the Trailblazer offers a great time on the road, though we’re definitely partial to the larger engine and all-wheel drive performance.

Four Terrific Trim Levels to Choose From

As you’re trying to decide whether the Trailblazer is right for you, it can help to take a look at each of the four trim levels on offer. The differences between them can be pretty significant, and they beautifully illustrate the range of features and options you can get with this SUV. For the 2024 model, each trim has distinct exterior details, like their front fascias and grille designs, setting them apart from each other visually. Beyond that, let’s look at the differences you’ll find within each of these trims.

The Trailblazer LS

This is the starting trim for the Trailblazer and the standard trim with baseline features. Inside the Trailblazer LS, you’ll find an 11-inch HD color Infotainment touchscreen display that is easy to use and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Along with this big screen, you get a standard four-speaker sound system, cloth seating with a six-way adjustable driver’s seat, and an eight-inch color Driver Information Center display. Perhaps best of all, you also get the Chevy Safety Assist package standard on every Trailblazer trim, which includes a Forward Collision Alert with Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with a Lane Departure Warning, and more. All of this comes together to create an SUV that’s fun to drive and designed to help keep you safe on the road.

The Trailblazer LT

If you’re looking for a straightforward SUV with some enhanced features, the LT trim is a great choice, giving you a few nice upgrades without going overboard. You’ll find a six-speaker sound system inside the LT, which provides rich audio throughout the cabin, along with keyless open and remote start functions that make it easier to get going in the morning. Choosing the LT trim also gives you access to several available options, such as a wireless charging pad and a panoramic power sunroof, which let you elevate your driving experience further.

The Trailblazer ACTIV

For a small SUV that is particularly sporty, the ACTIV trim level is a solid choice, thanks to some light off-road features that deliver an adventurous ride. For one thing, you get an off-road tuned suspension for better performance on dirt roads and rough terrain, along with a skid plate to protect the underbody of your Trailblazer. Along with enhanced performance, the ACTIV has Evotex seating that looks great and is highly durable, with heated front seats, an eight-way power driver’s seat, and a heated, wrapped steering wheel for an added touch of sophistication.

The Trailblazer RS

Finally, we have the RS trim, which isn’t an upgrade over the ACTIV so much as it’s a different stylistic choice. While it lacks the off-road tuned suspension and skid plate of the ACTIV, the RS comes with 19-inch High Gloss Black wheels (other Trailblazer trims feature 17-inch wheels) that give it a stronger, more aggressive stance. To go along with this, the RS also has blacked-out exterior details, a unique mesh grille, and dual exhaust outlets with chrome tips to create a stylish ride that looks as cool as it is to drive. Otherwise, the RS has many of the same features as the ACTIV, including seating, an upgraded steering wheel, and available options like a wireless charging pad and adaptive cruise control.

A Few More Things to Consider

Keep in mind that if there are features you’re looking for that we haven’t mentioned yet, they may be available options for the Trailblazer. For example, you can choose the Driver Confidence Package to add advanced safety technology such as Rear Park Assist and a Rear Cross Traffic Alert for added security while driving. With an available seven-speaker Bose Premium sound system, you can take your driving experience even further and fill the interior of the Trailblazer with incredible audio. Even more options are available, allowing you to customize this SUV to meet your needs perfectly.

So, Is the Chevy Trailblazer Right for You?

Only you can know which vehicle has everything you’re looking for, but it’s easy to see that the Trailblazer has a lot going for it. If you’re looking for a compact SUV that has seating inside for up to five people, with lots of cargo space for storage, impressive standard tech and safety features, and even more options to enhance your driving experience further, then the Trailblazer sounds like a great match. And if it’s not quite right, then as we said, Chevy makes seven other SUVs for you to check out and choose from. Whether you want something small, built for serious off-roading, or that has seating inside for up to eight passengers, we can take you through the Chevy lineup, look at what they offer, and find you the SUV you’ve been looking for.
