Each class lasts approximately two hours, and, in that time, you will be taught how to cook three or four courses, depending on the class. 3. Ruffino’s On The River

This restaurant offers an extensive menu of delicious food that features plenty of the spice and flavor that Louisiana is famous for. In addition to its cuisine, Ruffino’s provides five-course cooking classes every month. Each cooking class is taught by a professional chef from Ruffino’s, so if you like the food served at this location, you’ll be pleased with what you learn. Try a class on cooking a roasted meal, a seafood meal, a grilled meal, or an Italian meal.

Wine is provided with each cooking class, so the meal you are preparing in the class will pair with your wine accordingly. Space is limited, so you’ll need to call Ruffino’s ahead of time to make a reservation.

4. Mix It Up

Specifically for kids, Mix It Up offers cooking classes for young up-and-coming chefs ages 5 to 12. Located in the On The Boulevard Shopping Center in Lafayette, Mix It Up also provides camps and birthday parties for kids that are interested in and fascinated with cooking. At Mix It Up, kids will take part in cooking made-from-scratch meals off of a kid-friendly menu. Cooking classes take place on a weekly basis, and there is limited seating available, so it’s best to make a reservation beforehand. Reservations for all cooking classes can be made online.
