Rugged and reliable, the Silverado has long had a reputation as a tough and trusty truck. This year, with the long-awaited refresh bringing new tech options, revamped styling, and even more torque, the 2022 Chevy Silverado 1500 looks set to expand its appeal and build on its reputation for power and versatility.

First introduced in 2019, the fourth generation of Chevrolet’s full-size pickup impressed customers with its impressive horsepower, but also with its comfort and adaptability. It can be configured with a long, regular, or short bed, paired with a single, double, or crew cab, and comes with a choice of rear or all-wheel drive, four powertrains, and eight trim levels.

With so many options and combinations, it’s easy to customize the Silverado to meet your exact requirements, whether you’re looking for a dependable work truck or a luxurious touring vehicle for a grand adventure.

The 2022 Lineup

The 2022 refresh has seen a redesign of the front end, giving the truck an even sleeker and sturdier look. This is coupled with the option of three new exterior colors, Dark Ash, Sand Dune, and Glacier Blue Metallic, and a revamp of the interior on trims from the LT up.

Torque

The 2022 Silverado Ltd saw the deletion of the V6 engine. As a result, the 2.7l turbo engine became standard on the base level WT and meant that all trims became available with 8 or 10-speed transmission.

Enhancements to the crankshaft and cylinder block casting have meant that this engine now delivers 430 pound-feet of torque, an increase of 20% on previous models. Taken together, these upgrades mean that the Silverado now delivers the highest spec on a base-level engine. And thanks to improvements to the chassis, the 3.0l Duramax diesel engine is now capable of towing up to 13,300 pounds on a RWD,:a boost of over 30% on forerunners.

Trims

While the existing WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country, remain available, Chevrolet’s ninth Silverado trim was unveiled in 2022. With DSSV MultiMatic dampers, steel bumpers, and skid plates among its special features, the ZR2 features the 6.2l V8 engine and has been specifically designed to maximise the truck’s off-roading capacity.

Tech

WIth the upgrades, all trims now come with Chevy Safety Assist as standard. This package of active safety features includes Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Forward Collision Alert. Super Cruise driver assistance technology has also become available on the High Country trim.
Trims with the interior redesign now come with a 12-inch digital gauge cluster and a 13.4-inch touchscreen, with a system that connects to smartphones with Google services, Android Auto or Apple Carplay.

With its assertive styling, debonair interior and even greater range of choices and cutting-edge tech, the new Silverado is certainly an exciting prospect for loyal customers and new fans alike.
