Making time to get outside is one of the most important things you can do for your physical and mental well-being. To help you out, we’ve put together 3 of our best views near Lafayette, LA. All you need to do is go out, enjoy yourself, and relax.

Acadiana Park Nature Station

This stop is the smallest on our list, coming in at 150 acres of forested land. The park contains six miles of hiking trails with many having their own skill level recommendations. If you’re looking for an educational stop, Acadiana Station is the right place to be. They offer numerous programs like night hikes, kayaking events, and bird watching.

To make sure the park can stay an educational landmark, there’s a $2.17 fee per person payable by cash. This helps support their first Saturday of the month nature talks, their every-other-weekend trail tours, and their Young Naturalist Clubs for children ages 7-13. The park also offers school presentations and field trips, so you know you’ll be supporting a local effort.

Cypress Island Preserve

If you’re interested in native birds, this is the location for you. Thousands of Great Egrets, Little Blue Herons, Cattle Egrets, Snowy Egrets, and Roseate Spoonbills come to the preserve’s rookery to build their nests and raise their young. Meanwhile, you might be able to see Great Blue Herons and Neotropic Cormorants nesting in the trees. This incredible sight can be witnessed from March through June.

The preserve’s nature conservation goal is to eventually restore 20,000 acres of lost habitat such as Louisiana’s natural cypress-tupelo swamps and hardwood forests. The preserve currently occupies 9,500 acres and supports a diverse array of native plants and wildlife.

Chicot State Park

This expansive park covers over 6,400 acres of rolling hills and pristine waters. Lake Chicot is one of the main attractions and offers angling, boating, and kayaking opportunities. If you’re into fishing, you may find yourself reeling in a record freshwater catch of largemouth bass, crappie, bluegill, and/or red-ear sunfish.

If the water isn’t for you, don’t worry. There are trails that completely encircle Lake Chicot. Don’t forget to put the bike rack on your new 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT! Most of these trails are geared toward mountain biking but can also be hiked or jogged. Bicyclists are also welcome on the pain paths.

Whether you’re looking for a place to sit back and fish or a park that offers adventurous night hikes, these 3 great views will have something for everyone to enjoy. Before you go, make sure to stop by Service Chevrolet Cadillac today so we can make sure you have a vehicle perfect for any adventure.
