Tire replacement at Service Chevrolet Cadillac

We will have Bridgestone tires for any Chevy vehicle in stock. You won’t have to wait for the tires to be ordered and delivered. Bridgestone is the Chevy OEM tire brand, so you will have the same ride and driving experience as when your car was new.

When Do You Need to Replace Your Tires?

If you bought a new vehicle or the tires were new on your used car when you purchased it, then you can use mileage to gauge your tire replacement.

  • Coupe and sedan tires can be driven for up to 60,000 miles
  • Corvette and Camaro tires are good for 20,000 and 30,000 miles
  • SUV tires last for around 20,000 miles
  • Truck tires run for 40,000 miles

You can also visually inspect tires and pay attention to performance issues. When you need to replace one tire, be sure to check the other three.

Otherwise, tires should be replaced when they are damaged, leaking air, or have worn tread. To ensure good traction in rain or snow, replace your tires if the tread is less than 4/32-inch. Tires that are five or six years old should also be replaced. The raised Department of Transportation (DOT) number on the side of the tire will be three digits if the tire was manufactured before 2000. A four-digit number provides the week and year that the tire was manufactured.

Understanding the Numbers on the Tires

The numbers on your tires provide details about the features of your tires. Choosing the right tires can be difficult on a used car when each of its tires has different numbers. When you take your vehicle to your dealership, the technician will know what tires you need.

A tire number, such as p225 65r17, means that the tire is for a passenger car (p), not a light truck (lt) or a temporary tire(t). The 225 means the tire is 225-millimeters wide, with the height equal to 65 percent of the width. The “r” is for radial tires, not diagonal (d) or belted (b), and the 17 provides the size of the wheels. An additional number is for the maximum load weight, and an additional letter represents the maximum safe speed.

What Type of Tire Should You Choose?

Your service technician can guide you to the best type of tire for the conditions and area in which you drive. All-season tires provide good traction in most conditions. However, in some climates and areas, specialty tires are needed. The types of specialty tires you may need include summer, snow, winter, mud, all-terrain, and all-weather tires. Other specialty tires include highway, touring, and performance tires.
