What's Included in Chevy's Extended Warranty?

Additional warranty protection for your vehicle is a great way to protect the value of your Chevy and reduce the costs of repairs for covered damages. An extended warranty from Chevy can be purchased from your Chevy dealer.

What’s Included in Chevy’s Extended Warranty?

Chevrolet offers two long-term warranty options. A Chevrolet Extended Limited Warranty lasts for five years or up to 60,000 miles and will essentially extend the factory warranty on your vehicle by two years. This warranty plan offers bumper-to-bumper coverage.

Your second option is a Chevy Protection Plan, which has terms that last as long as eight years or 100,000 miles. You can only purchase a protection plan for your Chevy if the factory warranty is still active on your vehicle. If you miss this window, you will not be able to buy a protection plan from Chevy. There are three tiers of protection plans.

Platinum

The Platinum Protection Plan is a warranty that covers up to 1,500 vehicle components. These components include the powertrain, brakes, transfer case, turbocharger or supercharger, air conditioning, and electrical system.

Silver

The Silver plan covers most of the major components of your car, including climate controls, electrical components, steering, brakes, front suspension, high-tech, audio, navigation, and the powertrain. Choosing the Silver plan can help you save some money, even though the coverage isn’t as comprehensive as the Platinum plan.

Powertrain

This is the most basic level of protection. The Powertrain plan will only cover elements of the powertrain, such as the hybrid or electric motor, engine, transmission, and drive axle.

Exclusions

Protection plans from Chevy will not cover vehicle components such as the exterior trim, tire pressure sensors, brake rotors, exhaust, lenses, light bulbs, batteries, or battery cables. The wheels, rims, and tires on your vehicle are not covered by your protection plan. The cost of routine maintenance services is also excluded.

When Should You Purchase a Longer Warranty From Your Chevy Dealer?

When it comes to purchasing a longer warranty for your vehicle, you will have two opportunities. The first is when you buy your Chevy from the dealership. Typically, it’s a good idea to buy a protection plan for a used or certified pre-owned Chevy at the time of purchase so you don’t miss the eligibility window. If you are buying a brand-new Chevy, it makes more sense to buy an extended limited warranty, which can only be purchased before you drive off the lot with your new Chevy.

A Chevrolet Protection Plan ensures the costs of unexpected defects and damage are covered, which protects you from expensive repairs. Your protection plan can extend the coverage of your factory warranty for several years. Contact Service Chevrolet to learn more about purchasing extended coverage for your Chevy today.
