Lafayette, LA is one of the best cities in Louisiana to call home. However, you sometimes need a break from your usual routine. If there is nothing in Lafayette you feel like doing one day, jump in your Chevrolet Trailblazer LS and explore one of the following charming small towns nearby.

3 Charming Small Towns You Can Drive to Near Lafayette, LA

1. Scott

If you go on a day trip to Scott, you should strongly consider visiting Martin Accordions at 2143 West Willow Street. Even if you’re not interested in buying or repairing an accordion, you will probably have a highly enjoyable experience here. The family that owns this shop is happy to entertain their patrons with Cajun and Zydeco jam sessions, history lessons, and tours of their workshop.

2. Broussard

If you’re thinking about visiting Broussard, we highly recommend visiting Zoosiana at 5601 Hwy 90 E. If you will have kids in tow, make sure that you bring plenty of quarters to buy feed for the farm animals at the petting zoo. Also, make sure your children have time to ride the Storybook Carousel. This beautiful carousel was manufactured and painted by hand in Italy and features a spinning tea cup and nearly two dozen horses.

One of the most popular animals at this zoo is the clouded leopard. You can find this animal in the Southeast Asian Tropical Rainforests habitat. Another incredibly popular animal is the giraffe. This animal can be found just a bit down the path behind the Train Depot. If you have children who are at least three years old and tire of walking quickly, we strongly recommend taking them on the Safari Express to see a wide range of African animals.

3. Breaux Bridge

One of the greatest things about Breaux Bridge is that it is home to many swamp tours. We love Cajun Country Swamp Tours at 1209 Rookery Road. This swamp tour company offers a wide range of services, including private tours, birding tours, and large group tours. The tour guides know the bayou like their backyard, and they are highly knowledgeable and friendly. Your tour will be much more than just a boat ride.

We strongly recommend going to Breaux Bridge to take this swamp tour periodically. Different times of year are better for seeing different animals and animal behaviors.

While Lafayette has a lot to offer, it can’t provide the charm of a quaint small town. Fortunately, several towns in the area fit the bill. Before you head out on your next day trip, make sure that your car is ready to hit the road by scheduling a service appointment with us today at Service Chevrolet Cadillac.
