There’s nothing quite like the fall season. The air is crisp, and the leaves are beginning to change color. What better way to enjoy this time of year than by exploring your local area with friends or family? There are plenty of fall activities in Lafayette, LA, that you can drive to from the city. Keep reading for more details on some of our favorite destinations.

3 Fun Fall Activities You Can Drive to From Lafayette, LA

Acadiana Park Nature Station

The Acadiana Park Nature Station is located in Youngsville, about 45 minutes northwest of Lafayette. This park is a great place for families with young children because there are plenty of things to do without driving far from the city. The nature station includes hiking trails and picnic areas, as well as several live animals on display: monkeys, lemurs, and snakes!

You can also take a guided tour through their reptile exhibit house, where you’ll learn about snakes and other reptiles that live in Louisiana. If you like birds but don’t have time for an all-day excursion, bring your binoculars and look for colorful bird species like cardinals, bluejays, and woodpeckers while hiking through this park’s wooded areas.

Palmetto Island State Park

Palmetto Island State Park is a great place to spend the day with your family. The park is located on Cajun Lake near Rayne, LA, and it offers plenty of fun things to do for everyone in your family. One of our favorite things to do at this park is rent a boat and hit the lake!

There are plenty of places where you can rent a boat, but we recommend checking out Cajun Lake Marina & Boat Rentals first because they have some great deals on boats! The park has lots of hiking and biking trails, an 18-hole golf course, and even an equestrian center! You’ll also find plenty of picnic tables and playgrounds.

Lake Fausse Pointe State Park

Lake Fausse Pointe State Park is located on the northern shore of Lake Fausse Pointe and is a freshwater lake that has been home to many species of fish over the years. The park is open during daylight hours and offers boat rentals, a swimming area, and picnic areas with tables for rent.

There are also hiking trails and a nature center where you can learn about the area’s history. The park is just an hour north of Lafayette, so it’s easy to make a day trip there!

We want to encourage everyone to get outside this fall to enjoy the beautiful weather and the changing of the leaves.
