There is no need to wonder why Lafayette, LA is the most populous city in Lafayette Parish. This city has it all, including several museums and some of the best Creole and Cajun cuisine in the state. You can find plenty to do any day of the week. If you need some inspiration, read on to discover our three favorite fun weekend activities in the Lafayette area.

3 Fun Weekend Activities in Driving Distance of Lafayette, LA

1. Catch a Show at Rock’n’Bowl de Lafayette

When was the last time you watched your favorite band perform live? If it’s been a while, you may be able to catch them at Rock’n’Bowl de Lafayette at 905 Jefferson Street. Despite the name of this spectacular music venue, you can catch a lot more than rock artists here.

For instance, you can often discover impressive Zydeco and Cajun performers. Additionally, if you go to check out a DJ, you don’t have to pay lane fees to bowl.

2. Enrich Your Knowledge of Lafayette

You don’t have to spend an afternoon in The Lafayette Museum to learn more about Lafayette. You can download the Let’s Roam app and buy a ticket for the Lafayette In Full Bloom scavenger hunt. The stress-free scavenger hunt starts and ends at 217 W Main St. If you plan on bringing your family, consider buying tickets for every child over the age of six.

3. Visit the Lafayette Science Museum

Another great way to spend a Saturday or Sunday is to visit the Lafayette Science Museum at 433 Jefferson St. You can visit between 10 and 6 on Saturdays and 1 to 6 on Sundays. One reason we love the Lafayette Science Museum is that there is a wide range of exhibits to explore, including an air and spacecraft exhibit, a biology exhibit, and a paleontology exhibit.

There is also a special place in our hearts for the planetarium located on the second floor of the museum. Kids under 10 love the “Larry Cat in Space” program, and older kids and adults can enjoy several programs, including “Discover the Stars.”

Regardless of what fun weekend activity you’re in the mood for, you need a safe, dependable vehicle to get you there. If you worry about your car breaking down on the way to work after dropping your kids off at school, the 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer LT may be the ideal SUV for you. To take it for a test drive, come see us today at Service Chevrolet Cadillac.
