The 2020 Cadillac XT5 has a lot going for it: a powerful engine with a silky-smooth ride, plenty of cargo space, and a stylish aerodynamic exterior. This year’s model features some tech upgrades, both standard and optional.
Your Choice of Two Powerful Engines
The base engine of the XT5 is a 2.0 L turbocharged engine with four cylinders that gets you 237 horsepower and 258 foot-pounds of torque. It comes paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission. Standard is a front-wheel drive, but you can upgrade to all-wheel drive if you’re going to be navigating through unstable or slippery surfaces. The all-wheel drive goes from 0-60 miles per hour in 7.5 seconds.
If you’re feeling like you need a little more zip in your drive, there is also a 3.6 L V6 that delivers 319 horsepower and 271-foot pounds of torque. This gets you from 0-60 in 6.4 seconds but costs a little more at the gas pump. The front-wheel-drive gets 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway, all-wheel-drive gets 25 mpg highway.
Spacious Interior
You’ve got plenty of room for all your stuff in the XT5, with 30.2 cubic feet of space behind the second row. If that’s not enough you can fold that row down for 63 cubic feet of space. There’s plenty of legroom, too: 41.2 inches for the front row, and 36.6 for the second row.
This year’s model is a little more luxurious than the last, featuring all-leather seating and wood or carbon fiber trim. The available sunroof gives you a connection to the great outdoors, while the heated steering wheel keeps you warm and toasty. Higher-end trim levels get access to an 8-way power driver seat and 6-way power passenger seat, as well as dual-zone climate control.
Latest Tech Features
Even the most basic models of the XT5 get a full complement of the latest technology, including an 8.0-inch touchscreen compatible with Apple Carplay and Android Auto. A 4G LTE wifi hotspot is a nice feature to give internet access to all your devices no matter where you are. Four USB ports mean everyone can charge their devices, and if you don’t want to mess with cumbersome wires a wireless charging feature is available.
Higher-end models get nice features like a 14 Speaker Bose Premium Audio System, and a trial subscription to Sirius XM satellite radio.
Warranty
Cadillac’s warranty goes above and beyond the competition, as you would expect from a world-famous luxury brand. The limited warranty covers 4 years or 50,000 miles, the powertrain warranty gets you 6 years or 70,000 miles, and you get some complimentary maintenance included.
Safety
The XT5 got a perfect 5-star crash test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and features a variety of available driver-assist features. These include automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.
