On June 17 and 18, the Acadiana Food Alliance, in partnership with EatLafayette, is launching its inaugural Southern Louisiana Food Summit. This two-day event strives to foster conversations among growers, distributors, restaurants, and the general public to remedy challenges facing the food economy.

On the first day of the summit, attendees will go into the field and gain firsthand food and supply chain experience from various regional vendors and network with others. Baker Farms, Brookshire Farm, Crawfish Haven, and Blazing Star Farm are among the scheduled stops. The second day of the event takes place at the CAJUNDOME Convention Center and features keynote speakers, presentations, and panel discussions. The summit concludes with a seafood cook-off.

Uncle Sam’s Jam

Occurring at Parc International every July 3 from 4 until 10 p.m., Uncle Sam’s Jam is a free Fourth of July celebration. The daylong event includes performances from local bands, as well as food and beverages from Dat Dog and Tropical Smoothie Café. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets and enjoy an unforgettable firework display that lights up the downtown Lafayette sky. Proceeds from the event benefit the Downtown Lafayette Restaurant and Bar Association, which raises money to shape the downtown area’s future.

Rosé Summer Crawl

Scheduled for July 12, the Rosé Summer Crawl in downtown Lafayette takes you on a tour of several of the area’s best bars. Round up your friends and start the crawl at CENTRAL Pizza and Bar. Your ticket allows you to receive a different complimentary rosé sample at each stop, which occur at The Wurst Biergarten, Legends, JSP, and The Pearl. Best of all is that you can enjoy these beverages while sitting in air conditioning. You must purchase tickets in advance, and the event occurs rain or shine.
