The Chevy Silverado 1500 has been one of America’s favorite trucks since its introduction in 1998. This light-duty truck comes with plenty of power, lots of features, and of course, Chevy’s legendary build quality and longevity. Check out what’s new for 2023 and see why each year just adds more to this excellent vehicle.

Basics About the 2023 Chevy Silverado 1500

The 2023 Chevy Silverado is 4-door, light truck that can hold up to 2,260 lbs in its 89.1 cubic foot truck bed and keep anything in place and easily accessible with 12 tiedown points and an optional automatic tailgate.

The Silverado can also tow up to 13,300 lbs using either rear-wheel drive or optional 4-wheel drive. All trim levels come with a 12.3” driver information screen that gives you the necessary information you need to operate the truck and a 13.4” touchscreen infotainment system connected to a 7-speaker Bose Premium surround system with a Richbass subwoofer.

New for 2023

The Silverado 1500 was given a full facelift for the 2019 model year and a refresh update for the 2022 model year, meaning 2023 will see fewer updates than other years. The big change is a new engine option, with a new inline 6-cylinder 3.0 liter LZ0 Duramax turbodiesel engine replacing the 3.0 liter LM2 option.

The new engine is expected to offer better fuel economy than the previous 3.0-liter turbodiesel while offering the same power and torque. The exterior color options are also getting a refresh with a new Radiant Red Tintcoat replacing the old Cherry Red. Also, Sterling Gray Metallic and Harvest Bronze Metallic will replace Silver Ice Metallic.

Top Features for 2023

Beyond the best-in-class real wood and Ares leather interior and Chevy’s Super Cruise Drivers Assistance Technology standard on all models, the real features of the Silverado are under the hood. The trucks are available with either an 8-speed or a 10-speed automatic transmission for extra control and power when you need it.

The Silverado has 4 engine options including a 2.7-liter turbo gasoline engine and the all-new 3.0 turbo diesel engine which pump out 310 and 305 horsepower respectively. The real stars are the two gigantic V8 engines, a 5.3-liter 355 horsepower with 383 ft-lbs of torque option, and the top-of-the-line 6.2-liter 420 horsepower 460 ft-lbs option.

Silverado 1500 Trim Levels

The Silverado 1500 is available in 9 trim levels including the off-road focused LT Trail Boss and ZR2, the stylish RST and LTZ, or the top-of-the-line luxurious High Country. Each has its own blend of power and comfort, making this one of the most versatile and customizable trucks on the market.
