Meet the 2022 Chevy Silverado 3500
The Chevy Silverado 3500 is a heavy-duty work truck with a burly design and powerful engine made to handle extra tough work tasks. This is the top work truck in Chevy’s Silverado line and has some new improvements for 2022 that make it an even better truck to work with.
Powertrain Options
The Silverado 3500 offers two V-8 engine options. The first is a 6.6-liter gas engine that develops 401 hp and 464 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The second option is the 6.6-liter turbodiesel engine that provides 445 hp and 920 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Both come standard with rear-wheel drive and an optional upgrade to four-wheel drive.
Payload and Towing
Gas engines with a regular cab, long box, four-wheel-drive configuration have a maximum towing capacity of 16,800 pounds. This increases to 17,200 pounds when paired with a gooseneck in the regular cab, long box, rear-wheel-drive configuration.
The more powerful diesel engine tows 20,000 pounds from the hitch with the regular cab, long box, rear-wheel drive, dually configuration. This increases to 36,000 pounds with a gooseneck setup. The gas engine has a maximum payload capacity of 7,442 pounds, while the diesel is slightly lower at 6,523 pounds.
Configurations
The 3500 has three cab options: regular, double, and crew. The regular cab has one row that seats three, while the double cab has two rows for six people and the crew has two rows with larger rear-seat space for more regular use. You can also choose between a standard or a long bed depending on how much cargo you want to carry.
Technology
All trims come with a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity. Lower trims have a 7.0-inch display while LT and above have a larger 8.0-inch screen. The base Work Truck trim has a two-speaker audio system. All other trims come with a six-speaker system except for the highest High Country trim, which has a seven-speaker premium speaker system.
New Features
The most noteworthy new feature of the Silverado 3500 is the Multi-Flex Tailgate, which is now available as an option on all four trims. This tailgate can be reconfigured into six different positions, providing the versatility you need to get the job done easily.
