The 6th Annual Elite 97 Nurses Banquet was held at the Petroleum Club in Lafayette on September 12th, celebrating the noble profession of nursing. We are proud to have been a title sponsor for this incredible event for celebrating the amazing nurses in our community!
Weeks before this event, 97.3 The Dawg had asked readers and listeners alike to tell them about their favorite nurses, and what makes them special to nominate them for a chance to win an invite to the banquet. Out of the overwhelming amount of entries for the banquet, 97 exceptional RNs, LPNs and nurses from other facets of the entire nursing community were chosen as winners to attend the banquet.
Each nurse that won an invite to the banquet was also allowed to bring a guest, where they were treated to an incredible night of food, games, fantastic prizes, guest speakers and more as a big thank you to all that they do for the greater Acadiana community.

The Top Stylish Features of the 2018 Chevrolet Cruze
Since its introduction to the market, the Chevrolet Cruze has received an astounding reception. Coming in as one of the best-priced midrange vehicles, this is the ideal car for the office executive or for those who require a reliable yet comfortable family vehicle. Read on to discover some of the other exciting features of the 2018 Chevrolet Cruze.
Impressive Fuel Economy
There is no need to keep a constant eye on the fuel gauge when driving this vehicle: The 2018 Chevrolet Cruze will get 27 mpg in the city and up to 40 mpg on the highway, thanks to the 1.4-liter Ecotec engine. Not only is this a boost to the budget, but it also places far less strain on the environment.
Stylish New Design
With the second generation of the Cruze, the designers have gone back to the drawing board. Although some of the styling elements remain, many have been tweaked to provide a more sophisticated look, such as an edgier and slightly beveled silhouette. The sleeker headlights and a bigger grille provide a slightly more menacing facade, which only increases the allure of the vehicle.
Technology Takes Precedence
Inside the Cruze, drivers will find the latest technology. This includes Bluetooth and the ability to connect to external entertainment devices. Also standard is Chevrolet MyLink and a 7-inch touch screen that will keep music and apps at the driver’s fingertips. A navigation system that uses the internet and a mobile phone allows drivers to get around town more easily. A 4G LTE Wi-Fi connection for up to seven devices is also available, as is a 12-volt power outlet to keep those phones and other devices powered up during a trip. The 2018 Cruze also offers support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it also offers the myChevrolet mobile app that allows drivers to stay connected to their vehicles.
5 Drivers Who Will Love the New 2017 Chevy Trax
The Chevy Trax has a well-designed mixture of convenient, city-friendly features. A smooth design that is easy on the eyes makes this an attractive number to add to any home garage. Although not all vehicles are designed for every consumer, the Trax has a surprising fan following that spans a number of different categories. Discover which drivers will instantly love the 2017 Chevy Trax, and why.
The Urban Adventurer
As the smallest SUV in the Chevy range, the Trax has the ideal engine configuration for busy city streets. From the low-level torque to navigate highways effectively, to the 1.4-liter engine that doesn’t chug down too much fuel, every tiny detail is pro-city. Chevy did not intend for this model to scale the rolling hills and navigate through jungles, though it does provide a comfortable journey to campsites. It can navigate slightly tougher terrain than passenger vehicles thanks to the all-wheel-drive and the surprisingly large interior means nothing gets left behind.
Young Families
There is nothing more consoling to a parent than knowing that the vehicle they’re traveling in has a good safety rating. The Chevy Trax has superb safety ratings, making it ideal for families with young children. Apart from providing enough seating, it also has a decent-sized cargo area. Nineteen cubic feet provide parents with plenty of space to cart around all the baby’s requirements. The starting MSRP for the base model of $21,945 also makes this attractive for families.
Traveling Musicians
There are few things as frustrating for musicians as transport issues on the way to a gig. This is especially true for those who need to cart along with their gear, such as keyboards, guitar cases, and drum kits. The Chevy Trax has impressive space in the trunk and the seats fold down to provide them with a further 48 cubic feet. The configuration is flexible and will depend on their needs. On the way to the gig, musicians are entertained with the 4G LTE WiFi Connectivity plus the extra functionality that allows smartphone integration.

How to get Your Vehicle Tailgate Ready
Show Your Colors
If you want a tailgate that really shines, be sure you’re letting everyone know who your favorite team is. There are many tailgating products and accessories that let you do so. Show off your favorite team or mascot by using magnets that adhere to your vehicle or using vinyl graphics. For optimal flair, try sporting a team flag. Not only will your team colors fly high, but it can also help friends and family locate the party!
Bring On the Food, but Forget the Mess
Tailgates are synonymous with lots of delicious and messy foods. Make sure your truck bed or SUV cargo area stays neat and tidy by using cargo mats! This way, any crumbs or spills won’t have the chance to stain your interior, and the mats are easily removable for a quick cleanup when the party’s over.
Make Some Noise
Tailgates come in all shapes and sizes, but if you’re the type that likes to go big or go home, we suggest bringing speakers or a TV for a bold celebration. Portable speakers let you play your favorite tunes from anywhere, and most can last up to 10hrs on a full charge, so you’ll be set for the day.
Make sure to consider power sources when you bring the big screen. These days most electronics come with power converters that enable them to work with a vehicle’s DC lighter. If it doesn’t require an alternative power source, turn up the volume and watch on!
How to Test Drive a Car Like a Pro
Are you ready to buy a new car? If so, you should know that one of the more important aspects of the car buying experience is test driving the car (or cars) you are thinking about buying. Why? Because you don’t truly know if the car you have your sights set on is the right one for your driving style or needs until you sit behind the wheel and give it a spin. You wouldn’t buy a pair of running shoes before testing them out and making sure they fit perfectly…so why would you invest in a car without test driving it to make sure it fits perfectly with your driving style?
Before you run out to test drive the car you want to buy, it’s important to bear a few tips in mind:
Consider Test Driving More Than One Car
You may have the exact car in mind, but don’t fall into the trap of thinking that car is the only one you need. Make a list of at least three to five cars to test drive so that you can get a more accurate picture of the way different cars operate.
Make an Appointment
Rather than just showing up to the dealership armed with your list of cars you want to test drive, making an appointment with a member of the sales staff or online can ensure they have the cars ready for you to test drive. Otherwise, you might have to endure a delay waiting for a sales member, or the car you want to test drive won’t be available that day.
