When you’re looking for awesome brunch places in the Lafayette, LA area, you’ll find no shortage of amazing, creative takes on regional specialties that go beyond your traditional biscuits and gravy. (Not that there’s anything wrong with traditional biscuits and gravy, a dish that is no slouch itself!) We think you’ll be able to find something memorable at one or more of these fine establishments.

1. Rusted Rooster

People love the authentic vibe and friendly service here, not to mention the tasty morning food selection. Popular Southern fare may be the staple, but you’ll also find twists like sudden Lebanese spreads that include fried chicken, stuffed grape leaves, hummus, kibbe, and rice. Do they have biscuits? You bet, and you can pile all kinds of goodies on them, like gravy, pecan praline syrup, or bananas. Eggs, bacon, sausage, and home fries are available, too.

2. Edie’s Biscuits

Fans are loud and proud about how much they love Edie’s Biscuits. The biscuits themselves get the highest of marks, whether you’re going to the sweet side with a honey or a blueberry biscuit, or maybe a cinnamon roll, or over to the savory side of biscuit sandwiches. For those, choose your combo of bacon, egg, sausage, ham, chicken, pork chops, and more. If you must, you can even get a no-carb morning plate, and other options, too.

3. La Crêperie Bistro

This local French-flavored fave is all about the crêpes, and you can pick sweet or savory. People love the breakfast versions packed with a choice of meats or seafood and topped with French sauces, cheeses, avocado, mushrooms, and other amazements. Or go tor the ones filled with fruits and honey, or chocolate, peanut butter, or Nutella, and more. French toast is an option, as is an eggs and bacon plate, and there are topped salads, as well.

4. T-Coon’s

Described as something like a “Cajun Waffle House,” this place is on the casual side, which stops nobody from raving about it. They note that they’ve been “Serving this Area for 4 Generations!” You’ll find big breakfasts piled with eggs, meats, grits, cheeses, potatoes, and more, plus omelets that can hold shrimp, crawfish, brisket, and many other savory faves. Don’t forget the pancakes, bagels, muffins, and beignets!

5. The French Press

Two words: praline bacon. Well, also, there are breakfast sandwiches with eggs, avocado, and a choice of cheese, plus chipotle aioli. Or, you can pick one with both bacon and boudin sausage on Texas toast. How about French toast, or grits, or chicken and waffles, or the Cajun Benedict plate with andouille gumbo, or … you get the idea. This is Southern food kicked up a notch. When you venture out for a tasty, elevated Southern brunch, your new Chevrolet Colorado WT won’t mind waiting outside the restaurant for just one more hour.
