1. “Horizon” – A Mural by Robert Dafford

Located at the intersection of South Buchanan and Vermillion Streets, this is considered one of Lafayette’s earliest murals. Depicting historically significant elements of southern Louisiana, including the Atchafalaya Basin and the fiddle, the “Horizon” pays homage to the basin, Acadiana’s iconic gateway to watery cypress forests.

Commissioned in 1988, it took only two weeks for Robert Dafford to complete. Robert Dafford is an internationally recognized artist with murals in cities around the world. As a Louisiana resident, the city is lucky to have a number of different murals done by Dafford.

Art Museum of Greater Lafayette

Founded in 1909, the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette celebrates the power of art and features collections and exhibitions that will inspire you. With a design inspired by the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer and FNR-CarryAll concept, and based on the GM VSS-F platform, the 2020 Chevrolet Trailblazer is a mini Blazer that punches above its weight. Unveiled at Auto Shanghai in April of 2019, the new Trailblazer is said to replace the current Chevy Trax or possibly fall into the lineup between the Trax and Equinox. Either way, the Trailblazer will likely hit the North American market later this year.
