Commissioned in 1988, it took only two weeks for Robert Dafford to complete. Robert Dafford is an internationally recognized artist with murals in cities around the world. As a Louisiana resident, the city is lucky to have a number of different murals done by Dafford.

Art Museum of Greater Lafayette

Introducing the All New 2020 Chevy Trailblazer
With a design inspired by the 2019 Chevrolet Blazer and FNR-CarryAll concept, and based on the GM VSS-F platform, the 2020 Chevrolet Trailblazer is a mini Blazer that punches above its weight. Unveiled at Auto Shanghai in April of 2019, the new Trailblazer is said to replace the current Chevy Trax or possibly fall into the lineup between the Trax and Equinox. Learn the history of Lafayette at Vermilionville, a Cajun and Creole living history museum that opened in 1990. The 26-acre park preserves and interprets folklife cultures such as Native Americans, Creole and African descent, and Acadian that inhabited the area between 1765 and 1890. Numerous period buildings are onsite and ready to be explored, including seven original buildings that were moved to Vermilionville and restored to their former glory.
Self-guided tours allow you to visit with local historians and gain a deeper understanding of the historic significance of the buildings and land. Watch as artisans demonstrate crafts performed by the settlers and enjoy hands-on exhibits. The site also includes flora and fauna exhibits, as well as demonstrations on Louisiana’s weather.

The second day of the event takes place at the CAJUNDOME Convention Center and features keynote speakers, presentations, and panel discussions. The summit concludes with a seafood cook-off.
Uncle Sam’s Jam
Occurring at Parc International every July 3 from 4 until 10 p.m., Uncle Sam’s Jam is a free Fourth of July celebration. The daylong event includes performances from local bands, as well as food and beverages from Dat Dog and Tropical Smoothie Café.
